Insuring against disability

Job site oriented accidents are likely to hit 30 per cent of the workers, according to a report from Social Security Administration. And it’s impossible to predict how many of such mishaps will actually result in some sort of disability.

Most employers do offer a disability insurance program, but would that be enough if one had extra expenditure such as mortgages, paying for own or kids’ education, car loans, etc.? Having said that, it just makes sound sense to buy an extra layer of protection over and above what the employer might offer.

That is also one way to make sure that you tailor your insurance package to suit your needs, since the employer’s disability offering would most likely be for a fixed period. It could even be as little as a month and a half, in which case, a personal disability insurance package will act as a buffer.

Going the ROP way

While insurance isn’t exactly rocket science, one may still have to wade through a number of parameters before arriving at the right policy. And that, lately, is the term policy – the one that’s time-bound.

Many lean towards the term policy since it’s probably the least expensive, but there’s one more option that is looked upon with doubts – the ROP life insurance. ROP stands for return of premium, and that’s what exactly happens at the end of the insurance period – you get back every cent of the premium you paid.

So what’s the catch? I personally see no ‘catch’, other than the fact that the ROP costs a little more than term. Then again, compared to getting nothing back out of a term life, it’s a great deal to get back all the premium. Which only means you got the entire coverage over the years for free.

Insurance – finding top rates and service

The one factor that drives most people away from buying healthcare insurance is the derived notion that insurance means high premiums and the uncertainty about the quality of customer service. But it’s just about all that changed.

Well, if this one’s conception of health insurance policies, one only has to do some quick research online to find out more about the Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Advantage. If the name sounds big, so do their customer service. And inversely, so low the rates.

Behind the famous name of Blue Cross – which, incidentally is available in every state in the US – there stand an endless array of options to suit any budget. Group health, life insurance, emergencies, men’s health, dental and even temporary coverage schemes. The flexibility in choosing the best offers would appeal to nearly everyone, including the well settled salaried or self-employed as well as someone who’d just graduated or is in the middle of changing jobs or careers.

Life without insurance

Do you have a driver’s license? Yes of course you do. Do you have life insurance? It goes without saying that being prepared for the unanticipated has become a norm of life. In other words, life without insurance is no life at all.

While I’d not delve into the numerous advantages of life insurance, I’d surely wonder what makes some shy away from such an important need? As one recent research showed, the myth that life insurance is an expensive affair still lingers in the minds of many.

Nothing can be farther than the truth. It only needs a few minutes of browsing on the Internet to find cheap life insurance. Those few moments could very well be worth a lifetime of comfort and peace of mind.

The language of business

Professionals speak in a tongue that only people in the same industry can follow. And that is even more highlighted in the finance sector. The finance/banking folks speak in a lingo bordering on business.

If you’re in any way ambitious of catching up with them, the least you should have is a degree in finance. And needless to say, that would be worth the while, since finance still is the most lucrative among careers. (If the annual statements of some banks lately are anything to go by.)

Having said that, it’s no wonder that accounting jobs are among the sought after, and especially more so given the fluctuating state of economy these days. Basically it would seem like you’d be keeping books, but the nature of the job goes much beyond that, into management accounting and budget analysis. That’s just big time!
