His appearance is the trigger that lifts her out of her depressed state after she murders the ones she loves. She murders the one she loves because after the funeral the "man" and the feeling of euphoria that he brings eventually dissapears sending her back into depression. Each time the "man" is different and new because each person she kills is different. This is a cyclical pattern of behavior that would potentially see her murder everyone she's ever loved until finally killing herself upon realizing that the "man" (now that all her loved ones are dead) will never come back... please send me your answer when you post it. i'd like to know if I was even close.
